evaluation task 4

Evaluation task 4: who would be the audience for your media product?
This is a wordel it is similar to a brainstorm in how it outlines targets and objectives that we have set out to achive and how we could get them done. At first we needed to define our target audience we new are thriller was going to be a mystery action type and we needed to know who if anyone would be interested with our initial idea (what would they like to see, what would entertain them. We also needed to know how we were going to attract our target audience through advertising, viral campaign or use of techniques (e.g. 3D) we carried out interviews to find our key target audience we asked them question about their movie going habits (how they prefer to watch films, how frequently they tend to go to the cinema)

we also made a survey asking similar questions that can be seen below

http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/76DXSH6

the research we did into target audience paid off as we found that the people who would most likely want to watch our thriller is 16-25 year old males. sum of the results of our survey are shown here in a venn diagram which indicates our target audience

after we figured out our target audience we took it into consideration when filming our final thriller we wanted to make sure that we appealed to this group and that they would be interested and want to watch on past the initial 2 minutes. To see if we had achieved this goal we took a secondary survey and asked people to give their honest opinion on what they thought of our thriller and what they thought was good or bad and what they would improve on the link to this survey is below:
http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/FQ79ZFX
we also held a secondary set of interviews to get audience feedback from our thriller.  we asked people from our target audience to assess our thriller and tell us what the thought.

This is our feed back on the Thriller the following question was asked

What did you like about the thriller?
What did you like about the use of sound?
What would you improve on in our Thriller?
What did you like about the location?
What did you think overall of the Thriller film?
Would you go and see it at the cinema?

we also had some positive feedback on the comments section on you tube such as:

overall i think we did reach the goals we set out to achieve as we deduced who our target audience is
we made our thriller accessible, entertaining and interesting for them. Most of the feedback we got through our surveys and interviews was positive and the opinion of our piers should as what we had done right, were we had gone wrong and what we could improve on.

Evaluation task 2

Evaluation task 2:How does your media product represent particular social groups
Our thriller doesn’t contain any social groups as such as it only has two characters in it but it does contain stereotypes of characters in a thriller the character being chased is a young male protagonist who has been pushed to his very limits by the pursuing force this is a conventional and stereotypical thriller character type used in films franchises such as the Bourne films and the Mission: impossible series the character chasing him is the antagonist and is brutish and aggressive and around the same age sent by a higher power to get rid of the protagonist.
We used mise en scene as a way to stereotype the characters more as we had our protagonist dressed in a white shirt and our antagonist in a black shirt the two colours always associated with good and evil so whilst also creating a bit of symbolism we stuck to the thriller convention of the villain of the narrative dressing in black and trying to stop the protagonist on his mission. although our film does not represent any social groups we could attract certain social groups like the use violence in our thriller could attract younger audiences who are more intrigued by violence and therefore more likely to watch the thriller
here is an example of action in our thriller  we could also attract the attention of younger views which are our key target audience by advertising on social networking sites like Facebook or popular sites that are often used for advertising blockbuster films such as you tube

these sites are used by millions of young people everyday so if we displayed the trailer of our film on these sites then our film would get huge exposure.
we also thought about making different trailers and posters for different social groups like the ken loach film looking for Eric and the 2008 microwave film shifty
we could have trailers with fast paced editing  and loud fast music to emphasise the action and exhilaration of our film for younger viewers and we could play this trailer on the internet and T.V. channels designed for younger viewers like E4 and BBC3  and in the trailers at cinemas and we could also make a slower paced trailer in black and white which displays the mysterious and psychological aspects of our thriller to appeal to an older audience.

Here is a wordel of all the different social groups  and other things taken into consideration when we were filming our thriller.
